Data Usage & Permissions
This page explains what data the Fiyr mobile app (iOS and Android) accesses, which device permissions it may request, and how you can control them. For how we collect and share personal information more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
1. Overview
Fiyr is an offline-first business app for appointment scheduling, customer management, POS, and optional AI receptionist features. Most permissions are requested only when you use a related feature (for example, importing contacts or taking a staff photo). Denying a permission limits that feature but does not block core scheduling unless the feature is required for your workflow.
2. Device permissions
The table below lists permissions the app may request. Wording shown on your device may vary by platform and OS version.
| Permission | Why we ask | When it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Capture photos for staff profile pictures and business images. | When you choose to take a photo in the app. |
| Photos / media library | Select existing images for staff profiles or uploads. | When you pick an image from your library. |
| Contacts | Import customer names and phone numbers from your address book. | When you use contact import; data you select is stored in your Fiyr account. |
| Calendar | Read and write appointments to your device calendar for sync. | When you enable calendar sync for bookings. |
| Notifications | Send appointment reminders, booking updates, and security alerts. | After you allow notifications; you can turn them off in device settings. |
| Microphone | Record audio for AI receptionist and voice features. | When you use voice recording in the AI receptionist or related tools. |
| Speech recognition (iOS) | Convert speech to text for AI receptionist features. | During voice-to-text flows you initiate. |
| Bluetooth (iOS) | Connect to supported payment terminals and card readers. | When you pair or use a Bluetooth payment device. |
| Location (iOS, when in use) | Help customers discover nearby services when location features are enabled. | Only when a location-based feature is active. |
| Face ID / Touch ID / biometrics | Optional quick login after your initial sign-in. | Only if you enable PIN or biometric login in Settings; handled by your device OS. |
| Internet / network | Sign in, sync data, process payments, and deliver push notifications. | Whenever the app connects to Fiyr services while online. |
Note: Some third-party libraries (e.g., sign-in providers) may declare additional permissions required by the platform even if Fiyr does not actively use them. We aim to request only what is needed for features you use.
3. Data stored on your device
- Local database: bookings, customers, staff, services, and settings are cached on-device so you can work offline. Data syncs to Fiyr servers when you are online.
- App preferences: login session, PIN/biometric preferences, and UI settings are stored locally.
- Home screen widgets (where supported): display a read-only snapshot of upcoming appointments from data already synced to the device. Widgets do not collect new data beyond what the app stores for your account.
4. Data sent to Fiyr servers
When online, the app may transmit:
- account and business profile information you enter;
- customer and appointment data you manage in the app;
- transaction and receipt metadata for POS features;
- AI receptionist call audio, transcripts, and SMS content when that feature is enabled;
- diagnostic and usage data (e.g., app version, crash reports) to improve reliability.
Payment card numbers are processed by our payment partners; Fiyr does not store full card numbers on its servers. See the Privacy Policy for retention and sharing details.
5. Optional features
- AI receptionist: requires telephony/SMS configuration on your account and may use microphone and speech permissions for voice features. You are responsible for customer notice where required by law.
- Calendar sync: optional; only accesses calendars you authorize.
- Contact import: optional; only contacts you explicitly select are uploaded.
- Social sign-in: Google, Apple, Facebook, or Twitter sign-in is handled by those providers under their policies.
6. Managing permissions
You can review or revoke permissions at any time:
- iOS: Settings → Fiyr → adjust Camera, Contacts, Calendar, Notifications, and other toggles.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Fiyr → Permissions.
- In the app: Settings → Data Usage & Permissions (this page) and related privacy links.
To delete your account and associated cloud data, see Delete account.
7. Children
Fiyr is business software for service providers, not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
8. Changes
We may update this page when we add features or permissions. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and material updates may also be noted in the app or release notes.
